Highwoods had 3 pairs taking part in the Essex Pairs Championship at Gt Bentley on Sunday 11th February 2024. .Joan Clark & Debby Sherwood won 2 of their 5 Group matches played to finish third in their group. Greg & Glenyce King won 3 of their 5 Group matches played and although they finished runner up in their Group, they just failed to secure a best runner up spot and missed out in going through to the knock out stages. However Peter & Diane Orrin won all 5 of their Group matches to qualify for the knock out stages. It proved once again to be their day when they won in the Quarter Final & then the Semi Final to reach the final. In a close Final game which, went to an extra end, they finally completed an exceptional day & WON the Final by 9-8. It is the second year running that Peter & Diane have won the Essex Pairs Championship and the fifth time overall. |
